1. Spend time with positive people – We all know some positive friends who always seem to be optimistic. Give them a call, invite them out for a walk or just to hang out and talk. Chances are some of their positive vies will rub off on you. Thoughts (both positive and negative) are contagious. If you are surrounded by negative people, it’s only natural that you’ll start to think and feel the same way. To improve your outlook on life, spend time with positive people. 2.Remember all of the successful things you’ve done– Take a few minutes to remember your past accomplishments and build yourself up. What are your strengths that took you to that successful point? 3. Play your favorite album
Some of your favorite songs will instantly get you into a good mood. You will be taken away in the melody of what you love. Music is a great stress reliever and a great mood setter. May I recommend The Beatles – White Album, with so many fun and catchy songs to listen to, you will be enjoying it for months if not years to come. Create a playlist of your top 20 favorite songs…Just make sure you don’t pick a depressing love song. Share those songs with your friends. Learn to play the guitar or piano and play those songs for your friends. Who knows you might start up a new band which is great to how to deal with depression, it gets your mind off of what is depressing you.
4. Break your daily monotonous routine – Going through the same routine, day after day, can be monotonous and depressing. It often leads to getting caught in a rut. Try a change of pace and hang out with new friends, listen to different music, go to a different restaurant. If you can, take a day off from work and go on an adventure. Get in your car and drive to a place you look forward to. Do something you don’t normally have time for or something you’ve never tried. In the long run, taking a day off every now and then is a great way for dealing with depression and perfect to get out of the slump which will make you happier and more productive.
5. Plant a Garden
Planting a garden can be the most therapeutic depression relief around. Getting your fingers dirty and being OK with it becomes fun. Plant some vegetables in the backyard or in some pots on the balcony. Plant an edible landscape so you can look forward to eating directly from the land in the coming months. Getting outside and enjoying the sun is just one of the ways that gardening can contribute to dealing with depression.

6. Spend more time with an animal – Enjoying your time with a sweet new puppy dog or purring kitten is excellent when trying to deal with depression. They make your problems disappear while they force you to pay all of your attention on them. What’s funny is most animals don’t mope around and become depressed. They might seem sad at times but Animals live in the present moment and they show love unconditionally. They wouldn’t know how to deal with depression nor would they be able to get the therapy they needed. Observing and interacting with animals will help you get over your problems.
7. You are not alone. There are many people who go through the same thing as you do, and they are all learning how to deal with depression. You are not alone; try talking to others around you who feel the same way and you will realize that many of your issues are one in the same, and finding a solution that has worked for one of you should be shared. Find online forums and read what others are talking about. Realizing that so many people are all going through the same thing seems to make it just a little bit easier.

8. Eat for a healthy lifestyle
A poor diet can bring on more depression. A healthy diet can bring greater physical and emotional wellness and mental strength. I know you have heard it before but, eating more fruits and vegetables and less sugars, fast foods and processed foods will definitely put you in a better mood and help you to manage stress. Check out how much sugar is in your favorite drink. If it is over 20 grams, then you are going on a huge sugar high then a depressing sugar low. Dealing with depression when your body is trying to manage so much sugar intake all at once.
9. Treatment Much of the above are natural ways of dealing with depression. Two other ways to fight depression are getting help from a licensed mental health professional and taking medication such as antidepressants if necessary. You should definitely get help from a therapist if you’re having thoughts of suicide. A therapist can help you cope with and reduce your symptoms of depression.
10. Get yourself out of the house Stay socially active even though you don’t feel like it, get support from friends and family members and do something new. Remember, your friends are your future and they are good for your health. Think about something that you’ve always wanted to do but you’ve been putting it off, and just do it. Take up an outdoor weekly sporting activity and have fun with it.
